What is a House Concert?A house concert is world class artists performing full-scale concerts in a living room to a small group of people. Since house concerts are mostly advertised by word of mouth, it's like being in on a really cool secret.
What can I expect? The term 'Folk music' comes closest but it doesn't mean much. As Louis Armstrong said, "All music is folk music. I ain't never heard no horse sing a song." You can check out the artists' websites to get a taste of what they will be bringing... or don't and be pleasantly surprised! Our house concerts start with an optional potluck at 6:30 PM. The music starts at 7:30 PM. There is a 10 or 15 minute intermission and the concert usually winds up somewhere between 9:30 and 10:00 pm. Concert is by donation. Recommended is $20/person and 100% of the proceeds go to the artist. Please encourage the next generation and bring your children who are old enough to remain quiet during the performance (no charge). You can pay at the door but please call, email or use the form on the 'contact us' page to let us know to expect you. Be prepared to practice a little friendliness because most people arriving don't know each other at the start of the evening... but that all seems to take care of itself by the end. Where are you? We are in the Lower Mission neighbourhood of Kelowna, BC. |

Cindy - you "get" house concerts like no other host I know. I LOVE that about you and your family. A memorable and delightful experience playing in your home. On behalf of all the artists and your guests - THANK YOU! - Shari Ulrich
That was SUCH! a wonderful concert... that rather like the mystical-intoxicated souls of old, I walked out without my shoes.. those black ones sitting lonesome in your front hallway. - Caroline Mackay
